Bendtner nets stunning header for Denmark’s top performer of Wednesday’s international outings was Nicklas Bendtner.

The 22-year-old continued to display his aerial prowess with a stunning header for Denmark against Austria on Wednesday.

Bendtner leveled matters five minutes after his country went behind early on but Austria found a goal just before half-time to inflict a 2-1 defeat on the Danes.

The result was not the best preparation for Bendtner’s Denmark ahead of their games with Holland, Cameroon and Japan at the World Cup finals in South Africa.

Elsewhere, Cesc Fabregas played the first 46 minutes as Spain defeated Bacary Sagna’s France 2-0.

Theo Walcott enjoyed a start but later went off for goal scorer Shaun Wright-Phillips after 57 minutes in England’s 3-1 win over Egypt.

Andrey Arshavin finally recovered from a harmstring problem to play the second-half of Russia’s 1-1 draw with Hungary.

Tomas Rosicky played over an hour for Czech Republic in their 0-1 defeat to Scotland while Thomas Vermaelen saw out the full match for Belgium in the 0-1 loss to Croatia where Eduardo was a second-half substitute.

Carlos Vela came off the bench to score for Mexico in their 2-0 win over New Zealand.

Alex Song was withdrawn later in the second-half as Cameroon held Italy 0-0 and Emmanuel Eboue completed the entire match as Ivory lost 0-2 to Korea. Subscribe to feed

  1. wow…same header he scored against stoke.I just hope this young lad continues his impressive form!

  2. He’s going to finish the season so strong…that’s what he does…look at his previous to seasons, he starts slow and then finishes the season with a flurry of goals. Nicky B is going to be huge for us this season and for more to follow…If he doesn’t put one in the back of the net this weekend against Burnley then I’ll be surprised

  3. he will be a very good striker. Hope to see more from him till the end of this seasen.

  4. Hi,

It is nice news that N.B. nets a stunning header.
I hope he will continue same for Arsenal.

Is there any injury news against Arsenal players in their international duties?

  5. N.B is d our new star no doubt u can see dat in goal scoring ability. I’m sure next season he’ll b considered as one of d world’s best.

  6. He’s good…may not be the best but like I’ve always said I liked him..he hustles!!!!! He’s strong in the air and strong to the ball.

His strength and RVP’s grace and smoothness will pair nice in the future. Hell can you imagine Cham and Nicky B in the air?

Burnley is next…1 down 9 more to go to glorious victory!!!!

  7. Well it’s far from stunning. The goal against Stoke was much more difficult and technically much better. But I’m pleased he’s getting better in the air. He’s always been decent but a giant in the box who’ll put the ball away during set pieces is definately 1 of the aspects of the game we’re missing. Now if he could learn to shoot with his feet…

  8. Bendtner is showing that our front three is becoming ever flexible. Once RVP is back and Nick(a more nourished after leading the line 2nd half this season) moves out wide right, and Arsha/Nasri/Rosicky on the left, it’ll be a lethal combination. His ability in the air will definitely also add in defending set-pieces as the season reaches a crunching mode. Bendtner to score a brace on saturday.

  10. Nice header, Super Nik!

Almost identical to the equaliser on Saturday.

I hope his scoring form continues – that’s three goals in just four games now isn’t it? Nice! 🙂

  11. Bendtner was doing what he can and like every Danes, he wanted to win the game. Whatever the outcome, let us consider also that this time is just the best preparation for the next time. Nicklas still young, strong and has the potential.
